Disneyland, California, was first opened to the public on July 18th, 1955. Inspired by a walk in Griffin Park with his daughters, Walt Disney decided there should be a location in the world where everyone could enjoy the magic of Disney in a park-like environment. This was especially apt, as the studio tours he could offer fans of the Disney works were not particularly exciting, and he wanted to offer the public a better look into the magic.
However, in the 1990s, the park expanded again, becoming the Disneyland Resort, encompassing not only the park but a hotel and shopping facilities, turning the site from a simple Disney theme park into a fully-fledged holiday destination complete with accommodation, amenities and shops. The resort has evolved to offer themed areas, many rides, and an experience not unlike taking your children into the films they adore so very much. The Disneyland Resort in California soon spawned others around the world, and they stand as a beacon of Disney’s magic and gifts of entertainment to children around the world.
